Austin Databricks Meetup: Governance with Unity Catalog

Join the Austin Data & AI community for an evening of hands‑on learning, real‑world demos and networking. This meetup will cover two key topics on the Databricks Lakehouse: secure data governance with Unity Catalog and building & evaluating AI agents.

Aldis Staraczek (Solutions Engineer and Databricks Champion at Qubika) will explain how to design secure and scalable governance across catalogs, schemas and tables using Unity Catalog. She’ll walk through modeling access, implementing lineage and auditing for compliance, and applying promotion patterns across workspaces.

Nicolás Peláez (Generative AI, Data Science & ML at Databricks) will demonstrate how to design agentic workflows on the Lakehouse, covering tool use, retrieval, orchestration and guardrails. He will show how to evaluate agents using offline/online tests, task‑success metrics and tracing‑driven iteration, and how to productionize them with vector search and Unity Catalog integration.
