Achieve: Community & Societal Impact Award winner

In all, five organizations and one individual leader were recognized for translating AI innovation into real-world impact across research, workforce development, ethical practice, community benefit, and individual leadership.
The 2026 award, “Achieve: Community & Societal Impact,” was presented to OVRFLW Digital for applying AI in ways that create meaningful community and social impact.

The Austin-based agency applies AI to help organizations better understand, engage, and serve their communities. By leveraging data-driven insights and intelligent tools, OVRFLW Digital enables more effective outreach, smarter engagement strategies, and clearer measurement of real-world impact. Their work is rooted in the belief that technology should enhance human connection, not replace it.
A vivid example of this principle in action is the Juan Chapin chatbot, built to support educators in Guatemala and support over 27,000 students in 108 schools. Using OpenAI’s GPT technology, OVRFLW Digital developed a custom conversational assistant that helps teachers co-author culturally relevant children’s stories in both Spanish and Mayan dialects, giving educators a creative tool they otherwise wouldn’t have had access to. Importantly, the solution wasn’t treated as ‘just a chatbot.’ It was designed as a classroom-ready experience, shaped around how teachers plan lessons, how students engage with stories, and how limited time and resources affect adoption.
This solution not only saved time but also empowered teachers with the ability to generate educational materials that resonate with their students’ cultural context, demonstrating how tailored AI can meaningfully uplift community-focused missions. Early pilot results indicated improved student outcomes compared to control groups, reinforcing the value of designing AI tools around real user needs and learning environments. This real-world use case highlights how customized AI tools, when developed with empathy and local relevance in mind, can open new possibilities for underserved communities and extend the reach of mission-driven organizations. It also demonstrates a broader truth: when UX is treated as a core discipline — and not a final polish — impact becomes easier to scale and sustain.
